- Federal and State Authority: Identify one (1) current issue facing the United States today (from the past 6 months). Congressional Ethics
Rep. Rod Blum, on 19th July 2018, was accused of failing to disclose essential financial
details. The allegations were under investigations were to be undertaken by the House Ethics
Committee. Blum was a representative of Iowa's 1st District. Blum, in his own opinion, faulted
the media and his opponents for exaggerating a minor mistake, and he had apologized for it.
Blum was blamed for overlooking required data from budgetary exposure reports; allowing the
utilization of authority House assets for a private business in which he had a money-related
premium and the usage of out of line or beguiling exchange rehearses. In July 2018, the Office of
Congressional Ethics alluded the charges to the House Committee on Ethics for further
examination. In December 2018, the House Committee on Ethics distributed the Office of
Congressional Ethics Report and Findings and the part's reaction. In January 2019, the
Committee stopped examining as its jurisdiction finished with the 115th Congress. (Govtrack,
