Human Resource Consideration in Strategy Shift
Organization restructuring and strategy shifts are changes that characterize companies
today to enable them adjust to external and internal changes. Competition and mergers of related
companies are some of the factors that compel organizations to undergo strategy shift. The
Strategy shift at Sportsman Company is as a result of competition and the need to make more
profits. In implementing structural changes geared at reducing costs and specializing on a niche
of production, the human resource is likely to get affected. Identifying and specializing in a niche
of production would require special skills and structures to succeed. Human resource is a key
component of any company and determine their success or failure. It is therefore important for
human resource considerations to be made in restructuring to ensure that the strategy shift is
effective, does not cause disruption and falls in line with legal requirements.
Job design is one consideration that determines any human resource practice during
strategy shift. In restructuring, it is important to highlight the flow of work in the anticipated
model as well as the tasks that will be required to achieve competitive advantage over other
companies. Various tasks dictate specific human resource requirements both in terms of numbers
and the special skills needed to execute them. Considering job design helps organizations
