This Wound is a World
The heart was made to be broken. The experience of love and heartbreak is obvious and
experienced once or frequently in life. Love is a pleasant experience creating a sense of joy for
the 'victims.' The kind words of 'I love you' teach individuals to live forever (Boyfriend poems,
2). However, love usually doesn't last forever. In some instances, it may not be love, but either
way, heartbreak often occurs among Indians as in other cultures, after knowing each other for
weeks and with the knowledge that it would not last long the decision is usually to try it
anyway(Something like Love, 1). The experiences of heartbreak are painful and cause significant
social problems in society. According to Fisher, Helen et al. love especially at the early ages,
becomes an addiction, and upon heartbreak, psychological problems occur (687). In the popular
culture, love music and music of heartbreak is a common theme (Garrido, Sandra, 214). This
discussion is based on love and heartbreak from the perspective of the poems' love, and
Heartbreak is Fuck Buddies’ and 'Notes from a Public Washroom' in the 'This Wound is a World
memoir by Billy-Ray Belcourt. Love and heartbreak are interrelated since the Billy-Ray
Belcourt artwork shows that the aftermath of love is heartbreak leaving individuals with
psychological distress.

commitment to each other. By use of personification, the poem shows the experiences from the
perspective of love and that of heartbreak. The two characters love, and heartbreak shows the
non-commitment in sex relationship. 'Love and heartbreak are fuck buddies.' By referring to the
characters as fuck buddies, the poem shows that there is no commitment to the relationship other
than sex and texting. The two are committed to texting each other only within the constraints of
time. For instance, love texts heartbreak at the eve of trying to shit, but he can't for lack of
exercise and proper diet. In the response, heartbreak is inconsiderate of some texts and only
explains his experiences on their affair. Heartbreak is a sign of sadness, grieve, and loneliness. 'I
am so sad that I burrow into the absence of every boy who has held me' (We were never meant to
break like this, 4). In the poem, heartbreak shares the experiences of loneliness.
The poem plays a significant role in explaining the relationship between love and
heartbreak. It emphasizes describing the experiences of love affairs among teenagers. The
historical knowledge of love in the culture was that of a young girl and a boy. However, with
increased awareness of sexuality...
