Aggression and Bullying Based On Employees’ Perspective
In a business organization, employees exhibit a number of behaviors and actions. The
perspective of the employees on the behaviors of their colleagues determines the extent to which
such behaviors becomes bullying in the workplace. The perspective of the workers on the
aggression of their fellow workers as well as their seniors in the workplace plays a very crucial
role in identifying the bullying in the workplace. Some of the key challenges that employees face
in their workplace are bullying. Bullying refers to any mistreatment of workers by managers or
fellow employees that causes either emotional or physical harm to the workers in the workplace.
A number of tactics are used to facilitate workplace bullying. The major tactics include;
psychological, physical, verbal and non-verbal abuse and humiliations. Bullying in the
workplace affects the workers either physically or emotionally and this consequently affects their
performance in the workplace. Researching on aggression and bullying based on the perspective
of employees is very essential as it will help determine the impact and ways of preventing
bullying in the workplace. Through the prevention of workplace bullying, the performance of an
organization in improved significantly. Through the research, conflicts of the existing literature
and information that has been omitted in the previous studies will be covered. The study seeks to

workplace. Through the study, the work will add to the existing scholarly information hence help
business entities, as well as scholar, get reliable and quality information.

organizations show different levels of aggression and only employees working under such
supervisors and management can determine whether the amount of aggression exhibited by their
seniors amounts to bullying. Bullying in the workplace is one of the major challenges in various
organizations. In some cases, employees are injured if the tactic used to harass them is physical
abuse. Beating or hitting are some of the common physical abuse used in the workplace to bully
employees (Ramely & Ahmad, 2017). Workplace bullying impacts negatively on unity in the
workplace as well as the performance of workers in an organization. For this reason, the human
resource manager in business entities should work closely with the workers in their firms to
identify and control cases of bullying. Aggression in the workplace is exhibited through
aggression constructs such as abusive supervision, workplace ostracism, and supervisor
undermining. Employees feel the effects of the aggression in the workplace hence they usually
have higher chances of determining the aggression that amounts to bullying in an organization.
An increased instance of bullying in the workplace lowers the performance of an organization
significantly. In addition, it demoralizes employees in an organization hence lowering their
performance. Moral support is very important to workers hence providing adequate moral
support to workers in a firm helps boost their morale and performance significantly.
Identification of workplace bullying helps human resource management as well as the top
management to prevent and control it. Some of the aggression constructs such as abusive
supervision and workplace ostracism affect employees in a firm both emotionally and
psychologically (Howard, Johnston, Wech & Stout, 2016). Prevalence of these workplace
aggression constructs, therefore, lowers the productivity of workers in a firm and consequently
lowers the competitiveness of such firms in the industry. Human resource managers have to
engage the employees in their firms effectively in order to determine the level of workplace
