Thesis statement: While it is true that the modern world has made significant steps in terms of
improving the rights of women, the reality is that women continue to face some serious issues

A. The campaign started with Tarana Burke, an activist and an advocate for women
of color
B. Burke coined the word "me too" after she had a painful encounter with a young
girl named Heaven in the camp. She confided on Burke about the abuse but Burke
felt overwhelmed. She felt horrified that she cut the girl off and referred Heaven
to neither counselor who she felt could help her better
C. Out of regrets for not helping Heaven, Burke said that she wished she could have
told the young heaven "Me Too."
D. The word went viral the Alyssa Milano twitted it
E. In the article by Zacharek, Dockterman, and Edwards, the women there are
referred to as "silence breakers" because these women have dared to speak out
about their sexual harassment encounters
