Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
The costs incurred when seeking healthcare as well as the treatment costs are some of the
factors that influence poverty among people different parts of the country. The latter widely
results from accidents and other medical conditions that the health insurers avoid because of the
involved treatment and healthcare costs. Previously, there were some cases where women were
charged more on health insurance cover. All these factors affect most people without private
health insurance covers and are outside the brackets covered by the existing special healthcare
covers. In America, citizens and residents who live below the poverty line have access to the
government’s free healthcare program known as the Medicaid. The senior citizens who are
above 65 years qualify for the government’s premium subsidy known as the Medicare program.
This paper is aimed at establishing the aims of this heath care reform of 2010 which were
effected through the patient protection and affordable care act. The paper also establishes its
moral impacts. There have also been some healthcare concerns previously that had received both
reactions before the 2010 healthcare reforms. This paper shall also analyze some of these

These are the two programs that have some significant waiver on health care costs. There are
many American citizens that do not qualify for the two and they do not have workplace health
insurance covers and they are the most hit by the high cost of healthcare.
As a measure to handle some of the health issues, President Obama’s administration
introduced this healthcare act in 2010. This act was to be rolled out to the year 2020. It was
quite complex such that the initial implementation took five years. This act was quite expensive
and had large critics from its inception through its implementation and also in maintenance. This
paper is aimed at establishing the aims of this heath care reform of 2010 which were effected

President Obama signed the stated bill into law on March 23rd on 2010. This was to
address some previous shortcomings that existed in the healthcare reach and the access to the
medical insurance coverage (Foster,2010). The federal government was responsible for the
enactment and the enforcement of this law also famous as the Obama Care. There was a huge
number of American citizens that never had access to healthcare insurance (Rosenbaum, 2011).
The people were often crippled by their health care expenses. This healthcare reform was aimed
at ensuring that more American citizens had easier access to health insurance covers. The
reforms also aimed at scaling up the quality of services in the healthcare and medical insurance.
The medical service quality could not be compromised to have lesser costing services (Tate,
2012). Additionally, the reforms also had a regulating aspect on the health insurance sector and
to reduce the overall spending of the US citizens on matters concerning their healthcare.
