College Advice
I resonated best with the advice from Duke McAdow who said that I should pick a course
that piques my interest, not one that fulfills the expectations of others. This is because family and
friends are always pressuring me to choose traditional courses such as law, medicine, business
administration, among others because they believe them to be the most promising in terms of job
opportunities but also due to the prestige attached to these courses. These courses, however, are
not fields am interested in, having people always in my ear has made it very difficult for me to
figure out exactly what I want to study in college. The words of McAdwow were therefore very
reassuring since they encouraged me to take a chance on myself and not pick a course only
because I do not want to end up unemployed. This fear can really hold someone back. I believe
that I can become successful at whatever field I choose to pursue if I pour my heart and soul into
it. My choice of career may not fulfill the wishes of my parents, but if I choose something I am
passionate about, I will live a fulfil...
