1. How does access to high-quality children’s literature affect a child’s future reading success, development, and academic progress?
Conduct an analysis of children's literature written in both current and past generations. Complete the “Children’s Literature Evaluation Matrix” by selecting one Caldecott Medal and one Newbery Medal winner or honoree from each of two time periods: Caldecott winners or honorees 1938-1945 and 1998-2018; Newbery winners or honorees 1922-1945 and 2014-2017.
In addition to the matrix, include a 250-500 word analysis comparing the eras during which the stories were written.

When children are able to access high-quality literature, it significantly affects their
development, future reading success, and academic progress due to numerous reasons. First, the

literature using their opinions on specific topics. Secondly, access to high-quality literature
encourages and strengthens cognitive development, thereby assisting students in analyzing the
topic hypothesis easily. Another important reason is that access to quality literature enables
