Emphasis is placed on the ability to use economic reasoning to describe the strengths and weakness of specific policy recommendations that have been proposed to solve specific problems in delivery or financing of health care. One must demonstrate the ability to independently research the literature and integrate information from the two disciplines (health care and economics). Abstract
As an industry, the health sector is not economic proof from being affected by the
prevailing economic factors. It is from such an argument that this paper addresses various
economic stipulations. There exist a lot of concerns that regulate the ease of people taking health
insurance covers and also the payment of the monthly premiums once insured. The paper
addresses various insurance and provides a clear link on how they relate to individual ability to
enroll in insurance. Multiple efforts by the government to eliminate disparity in health coverage
has also been indicated inclusive and a report on the shortcomings that have arisen from the
majority of them given. Recommendations and possible ways to enroll more people under
insurance, how to equip hospitals with personnel, and how to reduce economic vulnerability also
forms an integral part of this research work.

IMPACT OF ECONOMIC FACTORS ON HEALTH INSURANCE

Introduction
The performance of healthcare is strongly dependent on the state of the economy and the
health system. One of the key elements guiding the provision of health care is the provision
health insurance. Despite multidisciplinary efforts towards insuring more people, the rate of
absorbance over the same remains worrying. There is still a good number of individuals who
have not taken insurance covers on a personal and family basis. One of the key contributors to
these uninsured persons is extreme poverty levels that make people lack the dynamics to take up
insurance policies. Other factors such as the insurance policies available and the expense rate of
the premiums accruing to them also contribute to the concern. The federal government, the
states, and other local agencies should remain to be of great help in eliminating the challenge of
the economically handicapped not being taking up health covers. Lawmakers and different
government levels should, therefore, work towards the enactment and enforcement of policies
that are more consumer friendly, putting the interest of the consumer and the insurer at hand.
Suffice it to say; from the accruing economic factors and economic vulnerability that make
people prone to not taking health insurance covers, various stakeholders should join hands to
give people economic leverage to enroll in insurance health covers.
Literature Review
Hellinger (2009) has spearheaded information on the explanation of the relationship of
health insurance with matters relating to economics. The major contribution accruing from the
research work is the explanation of utility theory and how it is applied in the evaluation of
premiums and in the solidification of whether to take up related covers. From this theory, a...
