Explain the Five-Step Model in Ch. 3 of Thinking Critically, giving a brief description of each step. 

Select a personal problem from the list below:

  • Finances
  • Health
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Time management
  • Ask your instructor for approval of a personal problem about which you would like to write

Apply the Five-Step Model to solve it (see the accompanying worksheet). Be sure to list at least 3 options for Step 2, and thoroughly consider the pros and cons of those options in Step 2.

Answer the following questions (included at the end of the worksheet) in at least 75-100 words:

Do you feel that this process allowed you to see the problem more clearly? What was the most challenging step, and which was the easiest? Do you feel that you will be able to make progress towards a solution, having completed these steps? Why or why not?

Cite the textbook, consistent with APA guidelines.
