By the end of this week (May 25, 2019 @ 11:59 PM) you should choose from the list of cultural and sociocultural groups below and prepare a PowerPoint presentation that is due at the end of week 8. Preparation for the presentation will include synthesizing the information from readings, scientific literature, Internet resources and other sources. This presentation should address the following:

History, values, and worldview, language and communication patterns, art and other expressive forms, norms and rules, lifestyle characteristics, relationship patterns, rituals, the degree of assimilation or marginalization from mainstream society, and health behavior and practices.

In addition to describing these characteristics, the presentation must include:

a) a comparative and contrast analysis of common characteristics and distinguishing traits between the groups

b) a discussion of differential approaches needed by health care professionals

This is the only special assignment in this course and as I stated above it is due at the end of week 8. The assignment will be posted in Turnitin for grading and verify originality and in the discussion tab of the blackboard for your peers to view and comment. History
• Hinduism activities date back to 2300 BC
making it over 4000 years old.
• World’s third largest religion after Christianity
and Islam
• Encompasses many religions and philosophies
as opposed to worshiping a through a single
religion.
• 95 percent of Hindus are found in native India,
with the rest evenly spread around the world.

Values
• Believe in Brahman as the most supreme being
but still worship other Gods and Goddesses.
• Doctrines of Samasra and Karma guide their daily
living.
• Samasra emphasizes on the continuity of life and
death while Karma determines cause and effect.
• The doctrine of atman infers that the human soul
is part of a supreme being hence all people are
interconnected.

Values
• Moksha is the doctrine that guides Hindus
unto salvation through cleansing of sin.
• Morality in Hinduism is imposed by the
doctrine of dharma.
• Hindus believe the cow is a sacred animal and
therefore refrain from eating beef. Most of
them are vegetarians.

World View
• Hindu is an immanent religion as it believes in
ultimate reality, that God and the world had
no beginning but came as a result of natural
process.
• Hindu religion be in pluralism, that is, many
paths lead to the same God.
• God’s gender is significantly female, Hindus
refer to God as mother God.
• Hindus believe in purity of soul rather than
the originality of sin as believed in Christianity.

Language and Communication

• While the Hindu religion is widely practiced in the
some of the Asian countries, the dominant
language is Hindi.
• India as a continent has over a thousand
languages.
