Data Analytics C803

University of Southern California

Description

This is an Admission Statement of Purpose for Graduate School. It is more than finished, however, I need to limit it to two double space pages. Seems it's off by one sentence.

Second, I need help on one part that I am unsure of how to reference.I make reference how its mission and leadership statement is the correct choice for me, however, it's mission and leadership statement is different for online students than in class sessions. So I am unsure how to reference that.

Third, I want to put a statement of how the university could invest in me.

Last, is just grammar help and maybe shorten sentences.Have been getting help on the grammar and shorter sentences, so may not be much work there.

So how much would this small assignment flat rate be?
(School and Professor are not right, just randomly wrote them so I can continue onto the next screen)

I am applying to Penn State’s World Campus Master of Professional Studies in Data Analytics program in a continued pursuit to expand my academic and life goals. I decided to apply to Penn State because its concern with teaching, researching, servicing with pride and focus on the future resonates with my life's academic journey along with personal views and goals. I am intrigued by the process of decision making and the consequences of actions. I've always been an individual that has been observant of people's behavior, how they develop, and where it can lead them. This thinking was nurtured by being a son of a hard-working single mother that worked long hours for us with limited education and small grasp of the English language. As a result, I developed a unique perspective of what it meant to struggle, sacrifice and strive for little gain. One event that altered our lives, was when she sustained a fall dislocating her arm in 2007 that resulted in job loss, and the formation of a new life in Las Vegas. These impactful life events lead me to wonder of those that have lost more than us. Therefore, in 2011, I volunteered in a non-profit for domestically abused women and one for refugees starting a life in the U.S. After those experiences, I decided on a major that would help gain more insight. I went into Business Administration Majoring in Economics, to develop an understanding of how business and society affect people's decision making. As a result, I deepened my thinking by learning economic concepts used for analyzing social issues that lead to the development and implementation of predictive models used for explaining solutions from analytical generating processes. For example, one project I worked on for my Economic Seminar Class involved replicating Mankiw’s original empirical results of 96 non-oil countries between the periods of 1960 - 1985 to analyze what the determinants are for a countries growth. For this, we used the Solow model and Augmented Solow model, along with variables testing, to determine the most significant causes that stimulate expansion. This experience helped me to discover that I enjoy theory work because it sees a wide use in real world scenarios and situations. Now with my undergraduate courses finished, I want to grow my knowledge by shifting focus on the technology used in gathering and building of data for better informative decision making. I have enough desire and curiosity to become a Data Analyst. Specifically, by combining Economics with Data Analytics, I can better approach a problem, accurately examine processes and deliver comprehensive results. In the future, I see myself working in a faster-paced environment that motivates and allows me to put more effort in research that can improve my programming skills and use them to derive actionable results by analyzing complex data sets. I envision working as part of an interdisciplinary team tasked with complex data analysis and modeling techniques from which we are expected to produce solutions to ever-changing and emerging questions. I dream of a workplace that will always challenge my computational techniques, calling for continuous research to derive insights from deciphering complex data sets. Additionally, my experience with causal inference, will assist in dealing with observational data and endogeneity in help clarifying complex feedback. Overall, I am fascinated with data analytics and feel that my experience and knowledge in statistics and econometrics make for an easy transition into new environments focused on data. Additionally, Pennsylvania State University’s Leadership and Mission statements speak to my life's adversity and perseverance. Therefore, Penn State’s World Campus Master of Professional Studies in Data Analytics is a perfect fit for me.
