Science Instruction for Elementary Teacher Preparation Module 5 Reflection Submit at the end of Module 5. Evaluating Lesson Plan Implementation/Reflection on Learning In Module 1 of this course, you expanded your vision for science education in the modern era. In Module 2, you looked at ways, such as the 5E Instructional Model, to use inquiry-based learning to enliven physical science learning. In Module 3, you considered Earth and space science and how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Response to Instruction (RtI) open up the exploration of these areas while ensuring that every student has the opportunity and support to succeed in science. In Module 4, you looked at using an inquiry-based approach to unlock the life sciences as well as important ethical considerations accompanying the use of living organisms in the classroom. In this Module 5 assignment, you will report on the lesson plan you designed and implemented as a field experience and reflect on what you have learned throughout this course about the connections among science, technology, engineering, and society. Note – This assignment rubric is specifically designed to assess specific skills and knowledge related to your program. Please review all rubrics carefully prior to submission. Introduction
Lesson plans are essential in giving out direct instruction for students. They give a clear
outline of the activities to be undertaken to improve the comprehension of the content and
develop student skills. A good lesson plan satisfies the state and national expectations on
education and enhances the use of inquiry-based teaching. An evaluation of the lesson plan is
important in ensuring the skills taught have impacted the reasoning of students as per the set
national standards. The evaluation enables teachers to discover the areas that have not been
properly understood by the students to create suitable interventions. The course has shown me
the importance of science instruction and its impacts on both students and the rest of society.
This course has shown me the various skills needed in the 21st century for students to succeed
and that integration of technology is essential in enhancing content comprehension (Cleveland,
2017). This paper gives an evaluation of my lesson plan implementation, and a reflection on
all the various topics learned in this course.
Science and Society
I envision the science instruction I am providing for students will be useful to society
in the future. The science instruction aims at teaching pupils the importance of water bodies to
the climate of the world and their use in cooking and cleaning activities. Students underst...
