My household budget features regular items such as food, healthcare, car insurance, rent,
entertainment, and other typical monthly expenses. The total expenses amount to $2122 against
an income of $3000, which is significantly lower than the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s estimated
average monthly expenses of about $5000 per household in the United States.
While creating the budget, I realized some surprising facts. First, the failure to make a
monthly budget often leads to overspending. For instance, I based my food budget on some
receipts for past purchases at grocery stores. I then compared the same with the amount of
money I spent at fast food restaurants or on takeout and discovered that buying groceries and
