What children can and cannot do in the stages of early childhood? social-emotional learning

“Child development refers to the biological, psychological and emotional changes that occur in human beings between birth and the end of adolescence, as the individual progresses from dependency to increasing autonomy” (helpstartshere, 2013). The developments in all of these areas, to include social-emotional learning is strongly premised on genetics and events that might have influenced the child during pregnancy; in short, the ability for a child to mature in all facets of life, socially, emotionally, physically and mentally are strongly based on the inner-working’s of genetic and environmental factors. A pivotal example of this might be a young child that is raised in an abusive, loud and violent home, this will, in many cases, result in that child mirroring those same behaviors. This is not a normal part of the early stages of childhood but is an unfortunate result of the child’s environment and genetic makeup.
