Introduction.
The law of diminishing marginal utility is one of the most important laws in the world
of economics. According to Kushlev et.al (2018), it states that as the consumption of a given
commodity increases the marginal utility derived from each additional unit would reduce.
Utility in economics is defined as the satisfaction or happiness that an individual gets
Gandolfi, (2018). Marginal utility, therefore, can be defined as the additional satisfaction that
a consumer can derive with additional consumption of a product. The marginal utility of a
given product can be negative implying that additional consumption of the product is
unfavourable to the consumer. In economics, the first unit of a product consumed is believed
to have the most satisfaction to the consumer more than the second and other subsequent
units consumed.
