Explaining the Second World War with Realism theory
The Second World War conflict took place from 1939 to 1945 constitution nearly every
part of the world. The principal belligerents included Germany, Japan, and Italy who formed the
Axis powers against the Soviet Union, the US, France, and Great Britain, and China, albeit to a
lesser extent, who also formed the Allied powers. Adolf Hitler’s expansionist policy under Nazi
Germany triggered the Second World War by attacking Poland. According to the realism school
of thought, Germany started the War by invading Poland to safeguard its national interest by
gaining more land for its people. Similarly, Japan also bombed the US fleet to advance its
