Abstract
Some of the factors which have been highlighted to cause the subprime lending fiasco to
include but not limited to poor decision making by the borrowers in the community and
unethical behavior exhibited by brokers in the mortgage markets. The failure to address the
causative factors increased the chances of the occurrence of the disaster, which eventually
resulted in significant scale effects on the financial markets and the economy as a whole.
Experts have tried to come up with various solutions which would handle the antecedent
causes and hence prevent a similar occurrence in the future. However, regardless of the
measures put in place, it is essential to note that additional research is necessary to determine
the ultimate strategies which would be implemented to eliminate the associated risks with a
similar incident in the country in the future. (Foote & Willen, 2016).
