To solve this equation, your goal is to get x all by itself. Remember when you are moving values to different sides of the equation, you must always do the step to BOTH sides. Think of an equation like a see-saw, where you have to keep it balanced. 

7x-7=0   so the first thing you want to do is get rid of the value that is not attached to the x, so in this case we would ADD 7 to both sides (remember you always do the opposite operation to move a value to the other side)

7x-7+7 = 0+7  so you get: 

7x= 7  now we want to move the value that is attached to the x to the other side. Since the 7 is being multiplied to x, we want to do the opposite operation which would be to divide both sides by 7.

7x/7 = 7/7  which gives us:

x=1  so this is the solution!


You can check your answer by plugging the 1 in for x and seeing if it makes the equation true:

7(1)-7 = 0

7-7 = 0, YES! So the answer is: x=1
