Undeniably, communication is fundamental in governing matters as it aids the
reconciliation of ideological differences and believes. It would be difficult to make any progress
whether in the public or private spheres. Communication exists in different forms away from the
formal and informal setting. Communication occurs in a different environment and it has serious
implications in the making of decisions (Burg, 2011). Therefore it is important to monitor the art
of communication with persuasion through proper use of rhetorical tools. The mitigation of the
ideological differences among people in different spheres of life requires persuasion for the
speaker to attain their goals. The behavior and attitude of the audience towards the message
delivered by the speaker is influenced by the art of persuasion employed. Rhetoric has been
described as a way of preparing and developing speeches. The persuasion and rhetoric tools are
used mainly in critical thinking and clear communication (Rhys Roberts, 2008). Therefore,
proper use of persuasion strategies and rhetoric tools helps to reach a common agreement with
the audience which is critical for development.
Persuasion Strategies
i.
Proper arrangement of Words and Phrases
The first strategy of persuasion is the proper arrangement of the words and phrases used
in communication. This means that the speakers need to structure, arrange, and deliver their
message in the desired manner (Ackrill, 2010). The art employed in the persuasion greatly
influences the factual and idealistic form of the message being delivered. Although some people
may view the persuasion and rhetoric as deceitful, proper structuring of the words and phrases
helps in reaching the final decision as the audience are influenced to judge the message actively.

The audience is influenced to decide by the structure, arrangement, and delivery of the message;
hence, there is no deceit involved.

Contrasting the Persuasion
The other strategy that is normally used by the orators is contrasting the persuasion. In
any social setting, the communication made hold some form of persuasion. Therefore, where
there is some sort of competition in persuading especially in the public sphere, contrasting of the
persuasion can be used (German, 2010). In this setting, after the presentation of the information,
