1. The reading I like most is 'The Danger of a Single Story', the TED video under Week 6A. Since it clearly expresses how important stories can be and what danger it could result from a single story. The video is very impressive because it based on the speaker's own story, which makes the whole speech vivid and attractive. It still inspires me of some further thoughts about its topic, even right. And it also provides a new perspective for me to rethink about the reasons behind women's present position and women's voices, which is also the topic of our class. The reading I dislikes most is those two poetries under Week 4A. Actually, I don't dislike them, but they do is very hard to understand and takes much more time to get a good understanding of them, although the expression of poetries does have another feeling and its own attracting points, for myself personally. The common thread I found is the motherhood could be considered as a big part among most of our reading materials in this class, for instance, 'Why You Should Have Children' and 'Why You Shouldn't Have Children' under Week 4B, 'Claiming a Native American Identity' under Week 5A, 'A Bronzeville Mother' under Week 4A, etc. It is obvious that we cannot avoid motherhood when we are talking about women's voice. It is true that the motherhood is really closely related to women's voice. For the topic I think should be more widely discussed in society, it could be 'The Danger of a Single Story'. Since from my opinion, I do think this concept really makes sense and possibly explained very well why women still somehow suffer from unfair treatment and have to struggle strongly to express and show themselves' potential and power. The doubt of women's potential, to a great extent, could result from several single stories about women, which makes the only one-side of women's image and is worth to be discussed more, since it kind of approaches the origin of this problem. 2. The reading that I like the most is under 4B “Why You Should Have Children” because this article depicts the pain that a woman will experience at a point. In addition, this article also shows how this kind of pain and experience would motivate and educate women. The reading that I dislike the most is under 4A “The Last Quatrain Of The Ballad Of Emmett Till”. The reason why I dislike the article the most is that I cannot really understand what it really talks about if I did not do some background research. A common thread that I have found among all the readings is the discrimination and inequality to African-American people. Readings include “The Oppositional Gaze: Black Female Spectators”, “A BRONZEVILLE MOTHER LOITERS IN MISSISSIPPI. MEANWHILE, A MISSISSIPPI MOTHER BURNS BACON”, and “The last quatrain of the Ballad of Emmett Till”. Another common thread that I have found is the strength that African-American women have even though they were not aware of some time. Readings include “In Search of Our Mothers’ garden”, “Why You Should Have Children”, and “Why You Shouldn't Have Children”. I do think the topic mentioned in 4B “Why you should have children” should be widely talked about in society because this article depicts the real experience of a woman who is about to give births. There are some people in society thinking that women are born to give births and they have no idea what women have experienced. I do think this topic will bring more attention and caring to women.

Part 1: Post
The reading I liked the most was from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Ted Talk titled, The
Danger Of A Single Story. I liked it because of how it made me understand that it is always best
to have a subjective side of the story instead of the objective versions offered by outsiders of a
given culture, people, country and continent. The reading I disliked the most is I Used to Insist I
Didn’t Get Angry, Not Anymore, On female rage by Leslie Jamison. It ...
