Melissa is a quick spreading macro virus that spread as an email attachment. This virus
was a Microsoft word macro. A macro is a set of computer instructions that gets executed
automatically. The name Melisa is said to named after a Florida exotic dancer. It was among the
earliest email-activated infections. It affected the users of Microsoft word 2000 and 1997
(Garber, 1999). Although Melissa distorts email servers as dispersal rate of emails begins to get
