Description

"Preparing Reports and Proposals - Research" Please respond to the following:

  • Locate a secondary source on EBSCOHost published in the past year that will help you explore the problem you have raised in your Justification Report. (Use the "Cite" tool on the EBSCOHost Website to copy and paste the APA Reference information into your response so that your classmates and instructor can see the source.) Next, explain why you chose this source, and determine how it will help you to evaluate your alternatives (i.e. possible solutions offered) and arrive at a recommendation for your employer.

Class, This week, you have a bit of a writing break as you research ideas for the second part of your Justification Report. Your readings this week focus on organizing and preparing formal reports. Organization and preparation are two key components of effective professional communication. Whether you are communicating in writing or verbally, it’s important to organize your thoughts in order to prepare what you intend to convey. It’s then necessary to take the time needed to prepare your thoughts to deliver your thoughts clearly. Take a look at the following video in which an employer offers advice to employees regarding the importance of solid business writing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRUtzyZqlSA In this video, the employer focuses on two key words – “what” and “how.” He states that what you write determines how an organization is seen and that how you write it determines how an individual is seen within an organization. The results, he states, can be drastic. As you continue to practice professional communication skills that will benefit you in the workplace, how might you now begin adding focus to these ideas of “what” and “how” each time you write so that you begin challenging yourself to strengthen your writing and communication skills each day? Also, how might this be applicable to verbal language as well? Might you also be mindful of what you say and how you say it? Might you seek to use proper grammar when writing and proper language when speaking? Remember that communicating professionally means being mindful of all types of communication while being organized and prepared with attention to both how and what you are trying to convey.
