The Guardian View on Abortion
The issue of abortion has remained to be a very controversial topic in the recent past.
Various people have had different opinion and recommendation as towards the same. Some of
the greatest stakeholders who have much tried to influence this issue are health professionals,
politicians, the federal law, states, the general public, NGOs and other concerned human rights
bodies (Schiavon et al., 2010). Abortion is a major social issue and has attracted concern from
various levels of political, economic, and social perspectives. The media has also been on the
front line in the dissemination of information, which plays a major role in shedding light to the
public on the topic. Following such a concern, The Guardian newspaper ran an editorial report
on current issues circumnavigating around abortion. The editorial was run on Sunday the 12th of
May 2019 ("The Guardian view on abortion: Editorial," 2019). From the article, it is clear to say
that safe and legal abortion should be encouraged to prevent unsafe abortion practices being
carried out and also give mothers command over their rights.
