Introduction
My topic this week will be about the prevalence of diabetes mellitus. It is growing at an
alarming rate worldwide. The statistics released by the Center for Disease Control project that by
the year 2030 the number of people suffering from the disease stands at a cool 438 million. The
main aim will be to reduce the annual number of new cases of diagnosed diabetes in the
community. Since the costs associated with the Type 2 diabetes are immense it makes it the best
target for prevention.
