you will use the information from the Article Critique Worksheet  to write a full critique of your article. Put all of the information into your own words (paraphrase). Paraphrasing the information demonstrates that you have read and processed the material in the article.

The critique must be two to three double-spaced pages in length, excluding title page and reference page(s), and include the following sections:

  1. An introduction indicating the purpose of the article and its thesis.
  2. A one- to two-paragraph summary of the research that the article was based on and the methods used to collect the information discussed.
  3. A brief summary of the main points of the article.
  4. An analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the article.
    Questions to consider:
    • Are the research and/or the methods used to collect information appropriate to the topic and/or conclusions?
    • What topics did the author not address that you think would have been useful? Were there any topics that didn’t fit with the point of the paper?
    • What theories does the author draw on to form his/her conclusions?
  5. A summary of your conclusions.
    Questions to consider:
    • How useful is this article?
    • How do you see the article fitting into your research on your city/urban area?
