effort necessary? Briefly explain.
Information in an organization is a mission-critical asset. What this denotes is with the
right data, making high quality decisions that amount to a sustainable competitive
advantage for firms becomes facile. Therefore, contemporary companies are exploring
Big Data to gather accurate data and gain greater insights from it. Even though, the
information gathered is massive, a significant percentage of it is irrelevant or unneeded
for decision-makers, which necessitates reduction to the right size. Companies perform
this through IG techniques such as data cleansing and de-duplication (Smallwood, 2014).
According to Smallwood (2014, p. 15), “The biggest negative consequence of poor or
inaccurate data is poorly and inaccurately based decisions.” Therefore, data governance
