Evaluating Monitoring Programs
Discussion Part I
While designing a monitoring plan for your program or policy, if you discovered that different techniques for monitoring the implementation of the program or policy produced conflicting results, how would you reach an effective monitoring plan?
Consider that the observation data monitoring technique suggests that, on average, staff members spend 1 hour per week on teaching life-skills to clients as the program intended, but the service record data monitoring technique suggests that staff spends 15 minutes on average teaching life-skills to clients, against the program’s intentions. What do you think could account for the discrepancy between different monitoring techniques?
Discussion Part II
Among the different observational data collection techniques—narrative, data, and structured rating scheme, which technique do you consider to be the strongest approach? Which technique do you think is the weakest? Explain your rationale.
Is it advisable to combine two or more observational data collection techniques? Are there any advantages to combining techniques? Are there any disadvantages to combining techniques? Discuss.

CNL 518 Piaget and the Concrete Operational Period Research
Part 1: Writing a Play
Read the articles assigned for this topic and conduct additional research on the Internet or through the GCU Library. From the perspective of your specific discipline, use your knowledge to write a one-act play about a small group of friends.
Through the dialogue, the children should exhibit evidence of being in the concrete-operational period of cognitive development.
Be as creative in the dialogue of your scene as you can, remembering that at this stage, children, according to the textbook, become "less egocentric, rarely confuse appearances with reality, and are able to reverse their thinking."
Set the scene and include acting and stage direction, if necessary and appropriate.
Your creative work should be between 500-750 words.
Give your play a name.
Part 2: Summary
Write a summary of approximately 200 to 300 words in which you analyze and explain ethical and cultural strategies for promoting resilience, optimum development, and wellness in middle childhood.
APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Women By Women By Dorothy Fadiman Video Analysis
Writing assignment Please watch the following video as part of your writing assignment. Click here to see: Women by Women (https://archive.org/details/woman_by_woman). If the video does not open, please use another browser, like Mozilla Firefox. Then, write a 1-page summary and reaction to the video. Page 2 and forward: Analyze the video based on ONE of the theoretical perspective’s Structural functionalism, Symbolic Interactionism, or Conflict. The choice is yours. Choose the perspective you are most comfortable with, and along with your notes and textbook analyze the video. Make sure your examples are clear and that your explanations are thorough. Your explanation could seal the deal for you! You must clearly justify why your example is in line with the chosen perspective. DO NOT provide examples about different perspectives. You must choose only one. In sum, you must have 3 specific examples from the video WITH explanations of ONE of the following: FunctionalismSymbolic Inter-actionism ORConflict perspective Your paper should total approximately 3-4 pages total, typed, double spaced. Please submit 1 paper that includes the reaction AND the analysis. Below is a simplified example of how an analysis should be completed. Note that I expect much more detail, and that your examples must come from the video. The analysis is the most critical part of the paper, and that is where you need to apply the theory you feel most comfortable with. For example, if you were given a scenario about people in the US who live in an adult community. The story provided details about the lifestyle and expectations. It also went into the expenses and how most people are not able to afford to live there. You have 3 choices to pick from. For example, if you decide on the Functionalist perspective, you could say that the nursing home serves a positive (manifest) function, because older people are provided with a place to live where they are cared for. In addition, they have entertainment and a chance to make new friends. The symbolic interactionist perspective would focus on the symbols that are present. First, the word "adult community" implies that you must be 55 years or older to live there. A symbol of being old is: gray hair, walkers, wrinkles etc. The conflict perspective would look at inequality. They would address the cost of living in such a community. They would talk about the fact that the poor cannot afford to live in such a community and they are therefore at a disadvantage. Remember, you are expected to choose only one of the perspectives. It's easier if you use the key words in your response: Functionalism - balance or purpose Conflict - inequality Symbolic Interactionism - symbols
