Question Description

Annotated Bibliography Instructions

This assignment is the foundation that will be used to undergird the majority of the rest of the assignments in this course. Put forth the time and effort this assignment deserves in order to give yourself a good foundation for this course, as these sources will be used later for your Literature Review. Remember, you are not actually conducting the research. Your assignment is to develop the best plan possible using the best research methods to answer your research question.

You will choose 1 specific policy. You may want to use some of the feedback regarding your chosen policy from the Class Introductions forum. For example, you can choose the policy of “Obamacare,” although it is not recommended that you do as it is too broad. It would be wise to give particular attention to the sections of the articles suggesting information for further research, as this may help you with future assignments for this course.

You will find 5 qualitative research articles (from a peer-reviewed journal) and 5 quantitative articles (from a peer-reviewed journal) on your chosen policy. You will then read these articles and provide a summary for each article in 150–200 words (for a total of 1500–2000 words). Arrange each entry to include the following: article citation, article type (qualitative or quantitative), and article summary.

This assignment must be formatted in current Turabian style, thus the first article cited and summarized will be the author with the last name closest to beginning with “A” since Turabian requires that you complete your reference list alphabetically.

Below are some potential/recommended policy topics for your research:

  • Unemployment Insurance
  • The Federal Deficit
  • Immigration and Labor Laws
  • Welfare Reform
  • Spending on Military Expenditures
  • Common Core

The source is one that is relevant to the topic, especially from the context in which it
bases its discussion. From the context that the paper draws the information from, the paper
brings a good perspective in regards to the research of the topic and also offers valid and relevant
information. However, the paper has a downside since the information is only based on a certain
group, which is the Indian youths. With such an idea in the research, some of the ideas given in
the paper may be based on the Indian society hence not being as reliable as the source should be
in regards to offering details to the research. Although, despite the fact that the information may
not as reliable as it should be, the source stands to be a credible one with the details that it
provides to prove its validity. The date of publication falls under the scholarly timeline in regards
to the age of the source, and there is also the availability of the manner in which one can access
the source.
