Description
If Sue can choose an outfit from 2 shirts (red or blue) and 3 pairs of pants (blue, black, or white) how many different outfits can she wear?
Explanation & Answer
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
You can solve this two different ways:
1. Write out all the possibilities of (shirt color, pants color)
(red,blue), (red,black), (red,white), (blue,blue), (blue,black), (blue,white)
As you can see, there's 6 possibilities.
2. Or you can multiply the number of possibilities of shirts by the number of possibilities of pants. That would be 2*3=6 possibilities.
