1. The role of the NP in Nurse Managed Centers
Nurse Managed Organizations are healthcare organization that provides healthcare
services to the urban and rural population who are medically underserved due to limited access
to healthcare. This issue affects the nurse practitioner role because the nurse-managed centers are
required to provide healthcare services to a large population of Americans who are either
underinsured or lack insurance cover (Auerbach, Chen, Friedberg, et al., 2013). The nurses' role
in the NMO includes spending more time with patients to provide preventive and holistic care
for chronic conditions, wellness, behavioral health services, family and couples therapy, health
promotion, and disease management services.
The patient outcome will be improved when nurse practitioners at the nurse-managed
centers reduce the usage of the emergency room, decrease the length of hospital stays, and
reduce patient wait time and long queues in hospitals. Since these organizations are affiliated
with research and training institutions linked to the nursing profession, the nurse will be
responsible for providing healthcare to the vulnerable communities using a nursing model that
increases accessibility to quality patient care that improves patient outcome. As a result, the
patient outcome will be positively affected.

The current US Healthcare system has undergone major reforms since the implementation of
