Background of Study
This research aimed to examine the experiences of young people with based cognitivebehavioral programs of depression prevention. The research was conducted to help providers
support positive mental-health change in teenagers, particularly adolescents. The research was
significant because it aims to address depression, a major mental health problem among the
youths. Depression has become a major health concern, especially among young people. A huge
number of youths are at risk of becoming depressed. Research shows that depression among
adolescents about thirteen to fifteen years old has been increasing. Even though many schoolbased depression programs intended to prevent depression have been initiated, it is important to
examine the programs and receive feedback from the participants in order to improve their
effectiveness. The main purpose of the study was to explore the experiences of young people in
school-based depression programs. A Swedish depression mental health program called DISA
(Depression in Swedish Adolescents) has been criticized by scholars for only focusing girls.
However, in some schools, the program is also offered to boys. The strengths and weaknesses of
this program have not been clearly understood. To best understand the effectiveness of such
