Question description

In order to move, F needs to be greater than, or equal to static friction, F continues to increase until it is greater than the static friction, which keeps the object in a resting position. Kinetic friction happens when the object starts moving and the object will accelerate if the F is greater than the object's kinetic friction although, if F is equal to the object's kinetic friction, it is possible to reach equilibrium and so the object moves with a constant speed. In order to make an object start moving we require a greater force than in order to have an object moving at constant speed. In order to calculate the friction we use the formula:
