Question: In our society an email can be used as a contract between two entities. If you make an agreement with someone that email is binding. What do you think about this on an ethical sense? Student1: I believe that email is a great tool for communication between two entities. People are able to talk back and forth with one another about their concerns, likes, questions, and comments towards each other in a timely fashion. However, I feel that an email is not a suitable contract between two parties. I feel that there can be miscommunications and disagreements when it comes to the rights of emails. Also, written email messages can be interpreted differently from each party so a more formal document would be better. I feel that an organized document that both entities have created together is better than an email being used as a contract. Student 2: Emails are a prevalent form of communication in society today. As a result, there is a written contract between two entities who are having the email exchange if certain criteria are met. If someone writes an email and doesn't receive a response, then there is no binding contract. However, once someone responds to the original email and agrees to what is being stated and confirms their understanding of the stated terms, that person is agreeing to the content being presented. Having exchanges on email is ethical and can be used as a contract between two entities.
