physical health and prolonging life, all these through organised community efforts to protect and
improve the health of individuals and the entire community. The aim is to strive for
environmental sanitation, the control of infectious diseases, the empowerment of the people on
the concept of personal hygiene, the establishment of medical and nursing service that researches
diseases and prevents infections, make early diagnoses, eradicate life-threatening diseases and to
provide social machinery and services which will see to it that everyone in the community
