Ever since I was a small child, I have always been curious about the functioning of things
when put together. My first question every time I saw something like a toy was “how was this
toy designed.” Other questions that often caught my attention were how various parts of
machines and other equipments function. I was very curious to understand the ‘how’ of
everything I came across. Even as a grown up, I always have this strong curiosity and drive to
learn how things around me work and the need to better understand how things are designed and
what makes machines work or fail to work. It is this curiosity that I believe drove me to chose a
career in engineering. Creativity and curiosity are at the center of how I see the world around me
and hence I believe have always been an engineer at heart. Additionally, there are numerous
family members in my family who are engineers and as a result designing machines was at the
core of most conversations I heard as a child. My family is regarded to be a family of engineers
and hence I believe by becoming an engineer, I will be able to meet my family expectations.
