An average of 15 million Americans was unemployed in 1930. The period was just
after the great depression. The president at the time, Herbert Hoover, believed that all
Americans needed to survive the great recessions were perseverance and hard work. He was
not willing to involve and use the government resources at his disposal. This was contrary to
the president who came immediately after Hoover, who was ready to use government
resources to address the situation. It was achieved through the implementation f the New
Deal. It ensured that the government was more involved in the economic matters of the
