Most of the time, commercials are made to convey a message to persuade the audience to purchase, or use their products. The link posted is the infamous commercial that I'm sure many of you have seen at least once. This is the Animal Cruelty video with Sarah McLachlan.
This commercial is extremely persuasive. It uses ethos, pathos, and logos. It appeals to the viewers emotions, by playing a soft meaningful song while displaying pictures of animals that have been abused. Besides the pathos aspect of the commercial, it also has an appeal to ethics. Is it ethical to be able to donate a dollar, and not do it? If that wasn't enough to persuade you, it also provides you with clear examples of animals that can be helped with your donation, and provides reasons to do so.
This commercial is extremely persuasive mostly because of the emotional attachment around it. It seems to upset many viewers, and in a sense, shame them into a donation. A person can watch the commercial, and feel completely guilty while doing so. This commercial has definitely persuaded MANY people.
