Introduction

John Snow’s famous thematic map which visually represented the outbreak of cholera in
London in the year 1854 helped to support the hypothesis that Snow had that cholera was brought
about due to water-borne pathogens. The famous map showed the locations where the deaths as a
result of cholera occurred, the locations of the water pumps and the complete display of the London
streets (Docherty et al, 2017). The map that was produced by Dr. Snow changed the world forever.
