Incarceration for the youth is costly, ineffective, and can seriously do more harm than
what the youth has already endured. A different approach to imprisonment can provide child
with the chance of changing their lives and developing a character about themselves that enables
them to prosper in their adulthood. Group homes would replace the confinement and prison-like
systems that would give way to better lives. While there is some youth that requires detention,
there are those that just wouldn’t make it out a changed individual (Bates, English & KouidouGiles, 2015). Group homes could provide the youth with the possibilities of continuing their
education, developing positive relationships, and living in more appropriate environments than
where they came from.
Research has presented the facts that detention centers cause mental, academic,
employment, and adverse social effects on the youth (Lee et al., 2011). Given that assessment
has shown that formal system taking care of May not for the most part be the most ideal
approach to diminish unfortunate behavior, the centrality of absolutely assessing the risks of
young people through peril evaluation mechanical assemblies has been included by authorities
