Content
Provide an overview of philosophy’s importance and the effects that it might have on your life. Make sure your essay addresses the following questions:
- Would your solution/decision to the problem be better off with or without philosophy?
- Can philosophy help you live a better life? Why or why not?
- What kind of philosophical parameters do you use to determine your actions, your thoughts, in summary, how you will make a decision?
- You made your decision because you think it is the best one possible, right? Do you think that if other people made your same choice, the world would be a better place? Why or why not?

Utilitarianism
The utilitarianism approach of ethics, also known as the consequentialist theory of ethics
is a normative ethical system which is more concerned about the consequence of an act rather
than the act itself. This approach, therefore, proposes that it is the end action that determines
whether and action is moral or not. Thus, according to the utilitarianism approach of ethics, the
best action is that which maximizes the total happiness of the entire human population. There
are, however, two types of utilitarianism, these include act utilitarianism and also rule
utilitarianism. While rule utilitarianism focuses on benefiting most using the fairest method
possible, act utilitarianism, on the other hand, focuses on making the most ethical action to help
