Their ways and approaches of conflict vary widely ranging from how they view and interpret the conflict, the principles they employ in dealing with those conflicts and their moves towards justice, reconciliation and forgiveness also vary widely. Debates have increased on whether religion plays a role in war and some scholars view it as a significant contributor to conflict. Due to the recent wars against terrorists many people picture Muslims as being violent and involved in wars. This portrayal is not correct according to Ali, (2009), who identifies people of Islam as non-aggressive and not oppressive. It brings us to the issue of why the Muslims will engage in those wars and what the war means to them. Despite engaging in wars, Muslims are portrayed to be advocates of peace and equality despite people’s differences. In cases of conflicts among Muslims, Islamic law, or Sharia law, is employed in resolving the disputes since it is religious law. Muslims also follow the example of Muhammad in cases of disputes (Vehapi, 2013).
