The systems analyst is expected to have a full vision of the business problem as well as the technical architecture problem. A systems analyst not only bridges business technology gaps, but also is expected to be knowledgeable in many system areas of IT. The systems analyst does not construct the actual product, but instead designs, models, presents and leads the solution architecture. In Module One, students will begin working through a course long business case by starting with the business case review and summary.

After researching the roles of a systems analyst, select a specific activity or responsibility of the systems analyst. Define the purpose of the systems analyst and why it is important in the overall systems analysis process. Write this post to an audience of IT specialists. Use proper technical terms and language. Research the topic further using scholarly sources as needed to create a complete technical definition. Review job postings in addition to other information you find.

In responding to your peers, select an activity or responsibility definition that was different from your post. Provide an executive summary of the activity as you would communicate to an executive of a business management team.

Peer response #1 System Analyst: The Technical Architect Linzy Fields posted Aug 11, 2019 1:44 AM A system Analyst can best be described as a Technical Architect. A System Analyst role involves planning, developing, installing, and maintaining a company's systems and infrastructure (Rosenblatt, 2017). They must know the unique ins and outs of their company's business from a technical and non-technical stand point. They serve as the middle man between the IT Department and the non-technical managers or executives. That being said, a System Analyst must possess, "good oral and written communication skills to interact with people of all levels" (Rosenblatt, 2017). They must keep managers and users informed by conducting meetings and presentations throughout the system development life cycle. Like an Architect the System Analyst makes plans and might use tools like Visio or Microsoft project to create visual representations of business concepts or the flow of business processes. Planning and designing are important because they help to understand the current and future goals of the organization. They must have strong critical thinking skills for this reason. They must decide which upgrades or changes will benefit the company and what is the time sensitivity of these changes. These things include cost and statistics. Poor planning or no planning at all leads to a weak infrastructure of the entire company. Looking at job postings I would say the things that stood out the most for the requirements of a System Analyst are things like, "Superior Communication skills", or someone who, "takes responsibility and ownership" along with the previous mentioned roles. I think that a System Analyst isn't just the average everyday worker, but one who possesses the ability to be strong leader. I'm not saying that a System Analyst is a top executive, but one who has good interpersonal skills along with the technical skills like SQL and Oracle. Resources and References; Writers, S.
