Description

3-4 pages whatever is best..For this part of the assessment, you will act as CRM director holding a hypothetical mitigation meeting where all the invested parties you selected are present. You will be required to address each party individually and as a whole, while supplying an evidenced, analytical justification for the resolution you devised in the previous section of this assessment. Present the press conference with the idea of “cultural mitigation” in mind. compose a written script to present your objective findings as they deal with the complexity of culture and anthropological ethics. Your script should be a minimum of four pages double spaced. continue to expand upon your outline by ensuring that you have thoroughly addressed all five of the following critical elements related to the press conference: I. Discuss how the resolution you devised in the previous section is not only research informed, but is as culturally sensitive as possible to all selected invested parties. II. Make sure your presentation is informed by the complex questions of “Who owns culture?” and “Who owns the past?” Explain these anthropological questions as they specifically pertain to your findings in your press conference. A. Further break down and discuss the issue of ownership of culture as it pertains to living peoples and historical groups that are involved in the archaeological discoveries within the scenario. B. Further break down and discuss the issue of ownership of the past as it pertains to living peoples and historical groups that are involved in the archaeological discoveries within the scenario. C. In your final resolution, differentiate between the “ownership of the past” and the “ownership of culture.” III. How will your decisions on the outcome of the situation impact future generations of cultural groups, specifically economically, religiously, and socially? Use a combination of critical thinking and your background research as an aid to help guide you. IV. Remember that within groups, there are different levels of invested parties. How will the future of the archaeological site impact an individual differently than a group? How would it impact the town or county differently than the state or nation? V. Based upon your prior research into Western science and indigenous knowledge, discuss how different cultural groups will be impacted. Use cultural relativistic analysis to project how plans for the future look differently through the eyes of Western science and indigenous knowledge.

2nd and only need be 1-2 paragraphs select one of the events from the list below:

  • American Civil War
  • Nineteenth-century American labor movement (multiple events)
  • Armenian Genocide
  • National Party apartheid in South Africa
  • Vietnam War
  • Israeli-Palestinian conflict
  • September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks

Analyze how the event you selected is viewed from either side of the conflict. Your goal is to demonstrate the complexity of war. Remember, this is not meant to justify one side or the other, but to explore the difference of ideologies and opinions that result in violence.

As part of your response, be sure to address below......

  1. Briefly discuss the general cultural impact of the event.
  2. From the viewpoint of an anthropologist conducting research, explain your understanding of two different groups' perspectives related to the selected events.
  3. How do different cultural groups commemorate the event you selected?

CULTURAL COMPLEXITY AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL ETHICS
Overview
The concept of cultural complexity is often defined as the evolution of smaller groups
over hundreds of years into more interdependent and functional groups (Bergendorff, 2009).
Anthropologists and archeologists explain that the various cultural differences that exist today
were as a result of interactions between smaller groups to form complex cultures. The
homogeneous existence of various cultural groups has been attributed to the mutual sharing of
ideas and intercultural communication that created and smooth path to tackling problems that
faced them. Ethical behaviors in anthropology are a reflection of the moral principles that guide
individuals and organizations of what is good and bad while working as a professional.
Anthropologists must always avoid causing harm to their research subjects. There have been
major ethical issues in the 20th centuries especially how those who handle the archeological
discoveries conduct themselves. Controversies have emerged in connection to the handling of
clandestine work which reminds the locals of the atrocities that happened in the past. Most of the
natives have always presented their complaints on how their dead should be handled based on
their cultural beliefs and norms in their societies.
The resolution that I reached in the previous section focuses on ensuring that any
archeological discoveries ought to remain at the place of origin while the handling of artifacts
should involve the local people. This is a cultural sensitive resolution because it involves the
cultural norms of native people and their cultural lands. Various cultural groups have their way
of life that must be respected and therefore when conducting archeological discoveries, it is
important to do a background check to avoid an infringement into their customs. When working
as anthropologists, there is a code of ethics that requires them to have moral obligations towards
members of different cultural groups (Brown, 2003). A good example is a fact that the American

CULTURAL COMPLEXITY AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL ETHICS
Anthropological Association (AAA) expects the researchers to consult actively with the local
communities to establish a close working relationship that will be beneficial to all parties. They
are required to continue with the research in a manner that ensures the communities have given
their consent or permission to proceed in compliance with their wishes.
Culture is owned by the community in which it originates. This, therefore, means that
their customs must be respected per anthropological ethics. Based on the scenario, the ownership
of culture as it pertains to the living people and historical groups is the group where that culture
originated from. Given that they still practice what their ancestors used to do, they have a right to
protect it and preserve their cultural heritage (Kaneff, 2006). The state and the federal
government will come in to preserve the cultural heritage by enforcing laws that will ensure that
this culture is given the necessary respect for the benefit of the people and the...
