Running head: MULTIPLE QUESTIONS

Part 1
We all want to be successful in whatever areas we are, and the same applies to our places of
work and our overall output. This affects all professions and having standardized tests
undoubtedly brings out Intra and inter competition amongst various stakeholders and at multiple
levels. One of the cons of standardized tests is it somehow arm twists teachers to teach the test,
which is not the most effective way of teaching as it is obviously biased. A better alternative
would be put more emphasis on classwork and marks awarded accordingly with regards to a
student’s understanding of the various topics. This would significantly and positively influence
the grasping of concepts and knowledge at a more generalized level. The students should be
graded not only in their understanding of the curriculum but also in how well they do in other cocurricular activities. In the process, this would allow a more all-round student and allow for
comparisons across students, schools, and districts while discouraging the teaching for tests
which in a way is a form of cheating.
Part 2
This video is quite an eye-opener. The greatest lesson I have drawn from this is that it doesn’t
take much to be a leader. Far from the way most of us view leadership as being in a prominent
position in society and to make decisions that affect quite a number of people, Ted simply
redefined direction. It is the small things we do for others, often in a casual manner that influence
their decisions, moods, and so forth. It implies that we can be leaders in our small worlds and
have lollipop moments that positively affect others, often through actions or words that we
would not be so significant. For my lollipop moment, I would tend to think of a time...
