The article talks on the skills of summarizing an author’s work to note down their
interpretation of the main ideas. Important key words must hover in a writer’s mind while
converting information from an author’s work. Such key words include summary, claim,
argument, paraphrase, context and view point among other words. The main point when writing
down a summary is moderating the message in the original work and the message in the
summary. This can be achieved by emphasizing the key theme in the author’s work in a satirical
point of view while maintaining the message of the author.
Writing down a good summary requires the writer to put him/herself in the shoes of the
author by adopting their belief and theoretical points of view. This aspect also requires a writer
to relate the message with the common views of the people regarding the underlying topic. When
summarizing information from a given text, a writer needs to read carefully and understand the
message first. They are then supposed to critically analyze and write down their summary to
make it lively and catchy. This entails the use of both a convincing and condemning language to
reflect a particular stance or point of view of the writer.
A good summary does not often require being accurate but the most important thing is to
represents the information in a way that describes fully the purpose of the author. However,
deviating from the key message or ignoring the important central idea in the author’s work
