Jones 1 Haley Jones Professor Goodman Informative Speech Outline August 30, 2019 Speech topic: Adoption of children over the age of thirteen years. Specific purpose: to inform my audience about the importance of adopting teenage youths. Central idea: teenage youths who are adopted have better chances of completing their high school education and college, unlike their peers who do not have families to take care of them. It is essential to adopt the children because they need a family, the foster family will not have to pay for their school fees if they cannot raise it, and the medical and mental health is supported by the federal and state programs for the adoptive parents (Rolock and Kevin, p.419). Everyone needs a family love, and so adopting a child is giving them family love. Main ideas: 1. Adopted teenagers are in a position to complete their education, unlike their peers who grow without the experience of family love. 2. Foster families will not have to pay tuition fees. 3. Federal and state programs are formulated to support foster parents. 4. Everyone deserves to feel the family love. I. INTRODUCTION Jones 2 A. Attention getter: Everyone needs family love. No one outgrows family love, so adopting a child is providing a family for them. B. Introduce yourself: Hello everyone, I am Haley Jones! I’, excited to have the opportunity to speak with you all about the epidemic happening in the adoption world. C. Credibility statement: I have interacted with different people in my life. Many of my friends did not have parents, but they live with their foster parents. Some of my friends who were not lucky enough to get adoptive parents to struggle a lot in school and feel unloved. Most of the children who lack family love end up dropping out of school. I have researched everywhere about the importance of adoption, so I have concluded that people who do not have parents need to get foster parents at any age, most probably in their teenage. D. Relevancy Statement: most of the teens in the foster families are looking for support, encouragement and love that only families can provide throughout their lives. No one outgrows needing family, and sense of belonging. Adopting an older youth offers a family that will provide guidance, love and connection (Ruggiero, 2017). Children who are selected, at whatever age, can emotional security, and they are likely to operate generally than those who lack someone to adopt them. E. Central Idea: I will share about the importance of having a foster family to teenagers and the people who adopt them. F. Preview of Speech: the significant advantages are: The teenagers can feel the family love. Foster families will not have to pay for the tuition fees. Jones 3 The government has a way of compensating and supporting foster parents. The adopted students can complete their studies compared to those who lack assistance. II. BODY 1. One would be worried why the youths should be adopted, and they are almost adults. No one outgrows family love. Everyone wants to feel that they belong somewhere. Adopting a child provides a sense of stability, guidance to essential tasks, and lasting connections. 2. Children at the age of 13 years are in a position to apply for free federal studies aid; thus, they reduce the burden of paying their tuition fee. Financial assistance is provided to foster children; therefore, the parents do not have to pay. 3. Medical and health expenses are catered for by the federal and state programs. Qualifying foster families receive maintenance payments each month. The maintenance payments are provided until the children can take care of themselves. III. CONCLUSION A. Signaling to close the speech: Now everyone knows the importance of adopting teenage youths. B. Summary statement: Adoption is the idea of offering family to children who do not have permanent families. When adopted, the teenage youths get the sense of family, feel loved, can finish their education, foster parents do not have to pay for the tuition fees, and medical and health benefits are provided every month by the responsible programs. Jones 4 C. Central Idea: It is essential to adopt a child. Everyone needs a family and taking provides a family for the children who lack their permanent families. D.
