Description
Hi,
The image of the book, Reading Assignment and homework has been uploaded in the annexes. You should read chapter 1 and after that answer the first 10 questions in the Word file. Then solved the 7 questions you will found in the video HW1 with the teacher explanation. And send all solutions in the Word file.
You will find the video onside the ZIP file, and let me know if you don't find the video.
Thank you

Explanation & Answer
Hi, here are your assignments ;). Let me know if you have questions or need another help okay ;)
Chapter 1 Reading Assignment
1. What is Thermal conductivity? What are its units? What role does it play in heat transfer?
Thermal conductivity is the ability of a material to conduct heat. It is designated by the
letter k and is expressed as W/m.K. If a material allows more heat it has high thermal
conductivity.
2. What is temperature gradient? What are its units? What is the relationship of heat flow to a
temperature gradient?
Temperature gradient is a physical amount that portrays in which direction and at what rate
temperature changes around an area. It has SI unit of K/m (Kelvin/meter) and Q = -KA
dT/dx, Q = Heat rate, dT/dx would be the temperature gradient, K is conductivity and A is
the Area.
3. What is a difference between heat flux and heat rate?
Heat flux is what we call as the rate of heat transfer per unit area normal to the direction of
heat transfer. on the other hand, heat rate is the amount or heat being transferred.
4. What is Fourier’s law? Write down the equation
Fourier's law states that the heat flow rate through a homogeneous solid is directly
proportional to the cross-sectional area of the solid in a direction perpendicular to the heat
flow direction and the temperature gradient of the solid.
Qa-447 Q=-ka
The observation that can be drawn from the above law is that the heat flow rate depends
only upon the material, area and the temperature gradient and the larger the area,
temperature and the thermal conductivity of the material, greater will be the heat flow rate.
5. What is the inherent difference b...
