Introduction
This project will utilize best practices to expand the recruitment pool for underrepresented and culturally diverse individuals. In particular, the task will focus on women of
African American heritage as they are underrepresented in the software development industry. In
the USA, women only account for 20% of all jobs in the tech industry. Worryingly, African
American women only command less than 4% of all jobs in the tech industry (Center for Gender
Equity in Science and Technology, 2018). These statistics confirm that indeed, African
American female employees are under-represented in the software development industry.
The Job Description
Our company is looking to hire talented individuals to work as software developers to
assist our clients in satisfying their various needs. Successful candidates for this post are
expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge in programming languages and sof tware
development life-cycle. Some of the essential duties will involve writing codes, debugging
existing software and upgrading interfaces.
Duties and Responsibilities
➢ Researching, designing, developing and managing software programs
➢ Customizing software for new hardware, upgrading and improving performance.
➢ Writing and deploying efficient codes.
➢ Identifying areas to innovate existing programs and recommend a plan for the
