Works of art are a reflection of the current affairs that are facing society. These works of
art range from poems, short stories or plays. The main themes in these pieces of art revolve
around the pertinent issues that people face in their day to day lives. In this analysis, the main
consideration is how much emphasis do people put in their love lives? Do people put too much
or too little emphasis on their love lives? This forms a strong foundation in exploring the theme
as formulated in Love and Family Identity. A poem by the famous poet Pablo Neruda titled ‘If
You Forget Me’ is a classic example that provides an insight into how people in the society
approach their love lives. The author writes on how one can be so deeply in love with another
person. He further emphasizes the importance of both partners in a relationship working equally
together to keep the relationship alive.
In a romantic relationship, there are many dynamics at play that define the course of the
